Case Study
Remodel in historic building, brewery/restaurant: This remodel was in the Denver Union Pacific Head House which required having a subtle train connection. The 1938 era theme was selected when you dressed up for train travel and was a romantic time period. The booth design and mohair fabric was based on Pullman train seats and 1030’s autos. The window treatments were 2’ blinds and, big floral print curtain fabric, added to the interior period atmosphere. The custom music playbill was all-important with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett torch songs in the background. Lighting and furniture supported the 1930’s experience, cozy but functional. The “Chop House” brand name was derived from food concepts in the 30’s, which suggested a “class”, high quality restaurant experience. It had on premises a full brewery and line of wonderful beers. The floor plan accommodated a cozy, comfortable private dining room as well as a bar room in the back to accommodate a more lively crowd, and could be opened up to the outdoor loading dock patio.
