BBQ Restaurant with "Smoker" House and Drive Thru
4100 Square Feet Restaurant
600 Square Feet "Smoker" house
This project represents a new, ground up project for an operator with a long established BBQ establishment in North Carolina. The design highlights the operator’s whole hog smoking by separating this cooking into a unique, rustic ‘smoke house’ building that the guest experiences upon entering the restaurant. The main building draws inspiration from the aesthetics of old tobacco barns prevalent in the area. Rustic barn wood, rust wall paneling and exposed trusses are used with intention to elicit a down-home feeling and at the same time an edge of something new and contemporary. The site was recessed to allow for a step up wood porch, reminiscent of road house eateries. The design additionally accommodates the complexities of drive-thru and counter service models of operation.
